Kristen McKelvie knocked it out of the park with me. As a first time home buyer, I wasn’t sure what I was getting into purchasing in this type of market. Kristen knew upfront I was not only an apprehensive buyer given the competition in Austin, but I prefaced I can be a difficult client to work with in general. Numerous times my emotions got the best of me, and Kristen took everything in stride.

Kristen was great at educating me on what it would take to get an offer accepted in this market. At first I couldn’t believe what I was hearing, but that was because I didn’t want to believe what I was hearing. But everything she said was accurate. You need someone knowledgeable and realistic in this market to get your offer accepted. Kristen was no frills and put me in my place when I was being unrealistic.

We experienced numerous “out of the norm” experiences throughout my house buying process, many of those being due to this market just being crazy. In these weird scenarios, if Kristen did not know the answer to something, she would work immediately to find the answer. There was never a gap in communication, as Kristen was always prompt at answering questions or investigating any weird situations that might arise.

Kristen was extremely creative in finding properties for me. The MLS had minimal properties available for sale, and a lot of properties weren’t even listed on the MLS. Kristen comes from a very tech savvy background and used that to her advantage to find me properties that others couldn’t. In addition, she has a great network of realtors to find off market listings.

Kristen ended up finding me an off-market new construction home just a month out from completion. I couldn’t believe no one else had located the property yet. Kristen found it when no one else could, resulting in zero competition. I’m still honestly shocked that in the end, I got the perfect home for me without a bidding war. Kristen was even present through all builder walk throughs, including a very meticulous blue tape walk through. As an engineer with perfectionism, Kristen took notice of that and matched my attention to detail in the blue tape walk through and final walk through.

Throughout the buying process, Kristen would give me tidbits of information along the way that I really appreciated - even down to her sending me links to add the trash service dates to my calendar. After closing on a home, the process/relationship with Kristen doesn’t stop there. She continued checking in on me often to see how things were going and continued educating me on first year homeownership.

A year after closing, I received a lovely hardcover book from Kristen with all similar houses sold around me over the last year. It’s such a nice keepsake to see how the market continues evolving over the years.

If you’re nervous about jumping into the buying market but also know now is the time, don’t hesitate to contact Kristen. If you’re looking to sell, I’ve heard Kristen really thrives in this area as well. She’s a professional photographer, has staging contacts, and is very experienced in her pricing strategies. Although I don’t have a property to sell, I would consider using her selling services in the future.
